A punk atmosphere. All performers on stage at all times. Complete male nudity. No music but for some outbursts of sound sampled from tracks by The Birthday Party (Nick Cave's first group). Repetitive, weird and violent movements. The work features three male figures, who are either separate manifestations of the same person, or lovers. Military boots are used extensively as a reference to the punk scene, and Greek gay iconography (as expressed by the painter Yannis Tsarouchis and the poet Dinos Christianopoulos). The piece has a rather desperate feel.
Looking back, you wouldn't think people would have been interested in this weird stuff. Many came nevertheless. This work falls within a period of pure intentions, a time when no tricks were played on our audiences. The meat was chopped and cooked in front of your eyes. Stavros Zalmas joins EDAFOS.
