ANNE CARSON HAS WRITTEN A POEM ON THE GREAT TAMER!
One of the greatest poets of our time Anne Carson has written a poem on The Great Tamer. We are grateful and honored.
A special (and limited) edition featuring that poem and a collection of photos by Julian Mommert was published by ONASSIS STEGI to celebrate the end of the Tamer. The Great Tamer book will be available in selected bookshops as well as online.
We will keep you posted!
In a flood of emotions the final curtain of The Great Tamer (2017) fell
in Athens at MEGARON - THE ATHENS CONCERT HALL on 30 November 2019.
Within two and half years we toured 4 continents, 23 countries and 38 cities.
The Great Tamer was presented a total of 112 times, before over 90.000 spectators.

A NEW WORK HAS BEEN CREATED
Mixing elements from STILL LIFE (2014) and new stuff, SISYPHUS / TRANS / FORM (2019) is a fourty minute performance for six figures, arranging and rearranging space through the standing audience.
It was commissioned by the Festival Aperto as a site-specific performance within the Collezione Maramotti + Max Mara in Reggio Emilia, Italy.
The project will travel to museums, art collections, studios, and unconventional spaces.
We will keep you posted.

"Dimitris Papaioannou is probably the greatest genius
on the European scene today. With his tools from Arte Povera,
with his objects and elementary materials, which seem to be removed from
a construction site, with an eye, persuasive and rapacious,
able to grab the most diverse languages of contemporary art,
he creates his performances so outwardly as poor as they are amazing"
- Gianfranco Capitta, il manifesto -

"the Greek choreographer, director, performer and visual artist,
a genius recognized for his powerful and original visual writing in movement, derived from the great work on the body capable of symbolic transfigurations that draw on mythological,
literary, pictorial and cinematographic sources: an imaginary constructed with Arte Povera materials”
- Guiseppe Distefano, exibart -
